Transitioning from Homeschool

Have you been thinking about transitioning your child from homeschool to a co-op or a regular school environment? There are a variety of reasons parents choose to homeschool and a number of benefits of homeschooling. What if there were a school that provided many of those same benefits without any parent teaching requirements? AMPed Hybrid Academy may be just what you’re looking for!

Personalized Education

One of the main reasons parents choose to homeschool is the freedom to create a customized learning plan that can address their child’s strengths and weaknesses. This allows them to personalize their child’s education to their own unique learning style, pace and interests.

At AMPed Hybrid Academy, we follow a similar philosophy. Each student’s Personalized Education Plan (PEP) is designed to identify their strengths and opportunities. Projects and curriculums can be modified to meet each student’s abilities. Passion projects allow students to dive deep into areas they’re interested in, further helping to develop a love for learning. With class sizes of 12 students or less, students don’t get overwhelmed or lost in the crowd.

Flexible Schedule

Homeschool families love field trips and opportunities for learning in their community. Flexibility to learn when and where they want is a key aspect of homeschooling that integrates learning into everyday life. Families get to spend more time together, fostering closer relationships. When students are in school for 7 or more hours a day, 5 days a week, it reduces the opportunities for families to engage in these experiences. The length of the traditional school day is designed to reduce child care needs for students, not because it’s the optimal amount of time children should be in school.

At AMPed Hybrid Academy, we believe families are an important part of the learning experience. When students are in school, our goal is to make it engaging and focused. Our school day is 5 hours long (9 AM to 2 PM) and students attend two days every week and every other Friday. Students are provided assignments to work on while at home, but students have flexibility on when they work on those assignments and they aren’t designed to spend the entire day on them. This leaves ample time for students to do self-study or for families to go on adventures together.

Homeschooling isn't for Everyone

Homeschooling isn’t easy. There’s a lot of work that goes into finding the right curriculums, helping your child when they get stuck on a concept, and keeping them engaged. It’s almost like having a full time job!

At AMPed Hybrid Academy, families can enjoy many of the benefits of homeschooling without the work. As a private school and not a homeschool co-op, AMPed provides a comprehensive education with no parent teaching required. Yet families also benefit from a personalized education and more family time. Even our classrooms are designed with a relaxing, home-like feel!
