Frequently Asked Questions

What is AMPed Hybrid Academy?

AMPed Hybrid Academy is a full-time private school serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Students are enrolled in a complete academic program designed and guided by professional educators. Learning is standards-aligned, mastery-based, and assessed through projects, portfolios, and ongoing faculty review.

Rather than organizing learning around seat time alone, AMPed is intentionally designed around depth, application, and sustained academic growth.

Is AMPed a full-time school?

Yes. AMPed operates as a full-time private school, with students enrolled for the full academic year.

Enrollment reflects participation in the school’s complete academic program, including instruction, assessment, and advancement. Learning may occur across more than one setting, but expectations, outcomes, and faculty oversight remain consistent throughout.

What does “hybrid” mean at AMPed?

At AMPed, “hybrid” refers to an integrated learning environment in which instruction is intentionally designed to occur both on campus and through faculty-guided learning beyond campus.

Teachers design the learning, set expectations, provide feedback, and assess progress across all settings, ensuring continuity and academic coherence throughout the week.

How does the learning schedule work?

Each week is designed as a complete learning cycle.

Students spend part of the week on campus working with teachers and peers, and the remainder of the week engaged in faculty-guided independent study, project work, and applied learning.

Teachers establish learning goals, provide instruction, and review student work throughout the week. This structure allows students to engage deeply with complex work while developing independence with professional guidance.

What are the on-campus days and hours?

Each cohort meets on campus two days each week (Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays), with additional on-campus learning every other Friday.

On-campus learning takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and focuses on collaboration, instruction, discussion, and project development.

Specific schedules are shared during the admissions and placement process to ensure clarity and alignment for families.

What happens when students are not on campus?

When students are not on campus, they engage in designed, faculty-guided learning that directly connects to their on-campus work.

This may include:

  • Project research, design, and creation

  • Reading, writing, and skill development aligned to learning goals

  • Real-world application of academic concepts

  • Reflection, revision, and portfolio development

Independence is taught and scaffolded over time. Teachers remain accessible and actively involved through feedback, check-ins, and review of student work.

Who does AMPed serve?

AMPed serves students with a wide range of strengths, learning styles, and interests.

Students are placed into cohorts based on readiness, independence, and developmental fit, rather than strictly by age or grade level. This allows students to learn in environments that support both academic challenge and social-emotional growth.

Cohorts are intentionally small to foster strong relationships and meaningful engagement.

How does AMPed support gifted and advanced learners?

AMPed supports gifted and advanced learners through depth, complexity, and flexible pacing.

Students are encouraged to pursue complex questions, investigate topics deeply, and demonstrate understanding through authentic work. Teachers provide structure and challenge to ensure continued growth rather than acceleration alone.

Rigor at AMPed is defined by thinking, application, and mastery.

How is student learning assessed?

Assessment is embedded in the learning process and based on multiple forms of evidence.

Students demonstrate learning through:

  • Projects and performance tasks

  • Portfolios that document growth over time

  • Presentations and exhibitions

  • Written work and skill-based assessments when appropriate

  • Reflection and revision

Teachers regularly review student work and use evidence of learning to guide instruction and advancement.

How do students advance academically?

Advancement is based on demonstrated growth, readiness, and mastery.

Students progress when they show understanding, application of learning, and readiness for increased complexity. Advancement is not determined solely by age or time spent on a subject.

What are AMPed’s values?

AMPed prioritizes equity, inclusion, and social responsibility in how we design learning and build community.

We intentionally create learning environments that affirm diversity across race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, family structure, and belief. AMPed is a secular organization and openly supports accessibility, respect, and belonging for marginalized and underrepresented communities.

These values guide how we support students and families, design learning experiences, and prepare students to think critically, act compassionately, and contribute to a more just and inclusive world.
